Reprocessed Plastics & Recycled Polypropylene
There’s no need to buy virgin polyethylene or other new plastics. At Indiana Polymers, we repurpose polymers to create premium products that are durable and dependable. Since 1990, our recycled plastic company has been producing the finest recycled polymers for our clients. Reach out to us for more information about our recycled polypropylene in Portage, IN.
Recycled Polypropylene (PP Regrind)
Discovered in 1954, polypropylene generally offers a number of improvements over polyethylene in such areas as stiffness, strength, and temperature capability. Other features of both PP regrind and virgin polyethylene include:
- Good Processability
- High Flow
- Excellent Impact Resistance
One of the lightest plastics (with a 0.905 g/cm3 density), polypropylene is available from Indiana Polymers in three different types:
- Homopolymers
- Impact (Block) Copolymers
- Random Copolymers
With varying properties based on molecular weight, method of production, and the selected copolymers, polypropylene is appropriate for a wide variety of applications, such as:
- Appliances
- Electrical/Electronic Components
- Automotive Interior Parts
- Film
- Containers
- Packaging
Our recycled PP can replace virgin material in a variety of applications. We buy and sell polypropylene regrind, and our customers know they can rely on Indiana Polymers to deliver quality material.
Polyethylene
One of the most widely used plastics around the world, polyethylene comprises a wide array of properties depending on how it is produced. Both virgin polyethylene and PE regrind can be processed via a number of molding methods and offer a broad range of flexibilities and other characteristics, including:
- Good Stiffness
- Excellent Toughness
- Exceptional Impact Resistance
- High-Stress Crack Resistance
- Densities Ranging from 0.91g/cm3 (Low-Density Polyethylene) to 0.96 G/cm3 or More (High-Density Polyethylene)
These properties make PE regrind and its virgin counterpart highly suitable for applications in many markets, such as:
- Packaging
- Film
- Piping
- Bags
- Containers
HDPE regrind is the most commonly requested reprocessed polyethylene, but we source LDPE regrind, as well as LLDPE regrind, for clients with the right applications. We also purchase PE regrind. Due to our extensive industry experience, we understand our clients’ needs and can help them find the right recycled polyethylene for their projects.
Recycled Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS Regrind)
Usually composed of 50% styrene combined with varying proportions of butadiene and acrylonitrile, ABS plastic offers many of the best characteristics of styrene acrylonitrile and polystyrene, including:
- High heat resistance
- Good chemical resistance
- Good dimensional stability
- Good processability
Just as with virgin ABS plastic, high rigidity and impact strength and excellent abrasion resistance make our ABS regrind ideal for a wide variety of applications, such as:
- Automotive Parts
- Housings
- Appliances
- Sporting Goods
- Spools
Recycled Polystyrene (PS Regrind)
Polystyrene is well suited for extrusion, injection molding, and compression molding. In its unfilled state, polystyrene is usually labeled crystal polystyrene, although GPPS (general purpose polystyrene) is sometimes used, as well.
High impact polystyrene is modified with butadiene rubber to boost impact strength.
Polystyrene offers good flow properties, along with other characteristics, including:
- Good processability
- High heat resistance
- Fast molding cycle
- Good impact resistance
- Good dimensional stability
Our PS regrind, like virgin polystyrene, is used in a variety of applications, such as:
- Packaging
- Household Goods
- Toys
- Containers
- Compounds
- Horticulture
Thanks to our extensive industry experience, our customers know they can rely on the PS regrind we source for them. Our in-depth knowledge of recycled polystyrene means we can identify, source and deliver the right material for your project.
Reprocessed HIPS is available in white and black. Most regrind is mixed color, but some are available in white.
Polycarbonate
Created by a condensation polymerization that bonds a carbon to three oxygens, polycarbonate features a wide variety of properties, including:
- Good Processability
- Good Dimensional Stability
- High Flow
- Good UV Resistance
- High Heat Resistance
Two of polycarbonate's most striking qualities — its outstanding clarity and unusually high impact strength — make polycarbonate particularly well-suited for uses like compact discs, bulletproof windows, and break-resistant lenses. Other appropriate applications for both virgin polycarbonate and PC regrind can be found in markets such as:
- Sporting Goods
- Business Equipment
- Automotive
- Appliances
- Compounds
Backed by years of experience and a trusted supplier network, we routinely source recycled polycarbonate, PC regrind, and PC/ABS regrind for these and other customer applications. Aside from selling these materials, we also purchase PC/ABS regrind and PC regrind where appropriate.
